The Feast of Weeks/Firstfruits is twofold; also known as ‘the Counting Omer’ leading to the Day of Pentecost. As it is written, Observe the Month of Abib… This begins in Abib, with a seven week observation beginning right after Passover (typically 16th-18th of Abib), but moreover on ‘the morrow after the Sabbath’, for the Waving of the Sheaf; Luke 6:1-5… this is fulfilled, as The Third Day (Resurrection Day). The Firstfruits 49 day count culminates on the completion of Feast of Weeks; with the 50th day as a Memorial, being the 6th day of Sivan. This day is proclaimed as the Day of Pentecost, which is a Holy Convocation, and one of the three mandatory Israelite feasts. This feast is unique because it starts with the 7th day weekly cycles of Sabbaths, and concludes on a set monthly date (6th of Sivan). So the New Covenant Feast of Weeks includes the old methods of harvest counting, and is aligned with the 50 day period from the Resurrection of Christ, the firstfruits of the First Resurrection, to Ascension Day, and unto the 6th day of Sivan for Pentecost.
